Honourable Shittu Rukayat Motunrayo is a Nigerian journalist and politician currently serving as a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, representing the Owode/Onire Constituency. Born on 6 June 1996 in Manyan, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, she represents a new generation of public servants grounded in education, discipline, and community responsibility.
Her academic journey includes a Diploma in Mass Communication and Islamic Studies from Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication, Second Class Upper, from the National Open University of Nigeria.
Before transitioning fully into politics, she built a foundation in journalism, serving as Head of News at Just Event Online Publication. In that role, she developed professional expertise in reporting, research, and strategic communication, skills that continue to inform her legislative effectiveness and public engagement. Her early leadership potential was evident during her student years, where she emerged as the first female Senate President of the Congress of NOUN Students, demonstrating courage and capacity in representative leadership.
In 2023, she was elected under the All Progressives Congress to the Kwara State House of Assembly, marking a significant milestone in her public service journey. She currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Youth, Sports and Information, and Deputy Chairman of the House Services Committee. Through these roles, she advances youth-focused initiatives, promotes civic engagement, and contributes to institutional development within the state legislature.
Her legislative contributions include sponsoring initiatives such as the Kwara State Electric Power Sector Bill, 2025, reflecting her focus on governance reform, infrastructure advancement, and sustainable development.
