International Women’s Day celebrates women whose passion for service, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to community development reshape the political landscape and uplift those they represent. It honours individuals who combine professional expertise with grassroots empathy to create meaningful change at the local level where it matters most.

Iyalaje Ajoke Moromoke Aminat Obe, popularly known as AMA, is a trained journalist, artist, and grassroots philanthropist whose life’s work reflects a deep dedication to public service and community empowerment.

With over two decades of political and community engagement; including roles as Director of Projects for Senator Ganiyu Solomon’s campaign and leadership positions within her residential estate. She has honed the skills, networks, and insights necessary to drive meaningful change. Her journey reflects a life dedicated to understanding the needs of people and translating that understanding into action.

“Mine has been a life of service at various levels,” she shared in a recent interview. “I am an achiever. There is nothing I set my heart on that I cannot accomplish.” These words capture not merely ambition but a deeply held conviction that effective leadership stems from proven capability and an intimate understanding of community realities.

AMA’s passion lies centrally in uplifting women and children, a commitment demonstrated through her long-running empowerment programmes. Over fifty women in her community have already benefited from skills acquisition initiatives designed to boost economic independence, providing them with the tools to support themselves and their families. Yet her ambitions stretch far beyond current achievements. She envisions a community library project; an educational hub many thought impossible to establish, alongside comprehensive environmental initiatives to enhance cleanliness, public health, and overall quality of life for all residents.

Rather than relying solely on available funds, AMA leverages her extensive network as a journalist and administrator to attract strategic partnerships. “I don’t see myself walking into an organisation with a proposal for our people and leaving empty-handed,” she said with quiet confidence. Her strategy centres on collaboration: working with non-governmental organisations, private sector businesses, and government agencies to bring sustainable projects; from youth development initiatives to critical infrastructure, to her community.

With poverty and inadequate amenities plaguing many Nigerian communities, AMA believes the time for decisive action is now. “The resources are there,” she insists. “What’s missing is the right leadership to harness them.” This conviction underpins her promise of engagement that listens attentively, innovates boldly, and delivers consistently, a refreshing approach in the often-challenging arena of community development.

Her message is clear: communities deserve better, and she stands ready to contribute her experience, compassion, and strategic vision toward transforming not only local landscapes but also the lives of every man, woman, and child within them.

She is a woman of purpose and determination.
She leads with experience and empathy.
She builds bridges between communities and opportunities.
She empowers women through skills and economic independence.
She inspires hope through vision and action.

In celebration of her extraordinary commitment to grassroots development, community empowerment, and transformative leadership, we honour Iyalaje Ajoke Moromoke Obe and extend warm wishes for a distinguished International Women’s Day.

Happy International Women’s Day.
