Mostly found in densely forested habitats, given additional camouflage it provides against shaded or dark backgrounds, which basically helps them blend in into shadows and dark places, there have been reports of a few sightings of this mysterious majestic wild black leopard in Ethiopia, Kenya, and South Africa dating back to 1909.
However although one might think their dark fur enables them fare well within their habitat, research does show it comes at a cost as communication amongst their group significantly relies on visuals.
