Move over, jet-setters—there’s a new record-breaking traveller in town! Alma Asinobi, a 26-year-old Nigerian travel creator, has made history as the first African to visit all seven continents with a Nigerian passport. And she did it in an astonishing 71 hours, 26 minutes, and 25 seconds—just shy of the current Guinness World Record.
From the icy plains of Antarctica to the bustling cities of Asia, Alma carried Nigeria’s green-and-white flag with pride, documenting her whirlwind adventure along the way. Her final stop? Australia, where she celebrated her incredible feat with an Instagram story that read:
“Our Nigerian flag is officially the first—and fastest—to visit all seven continents! I guess my work here is done. Can’t wait to be homeeeee.”
Though she did not surpass the existing record (set by American Air Force veteran Johnny Cruz Buckingham in 64 hours), Alma’s journey was about more than just speed. She embarked on this mission with her Nigerian passport to highlight the challenges many Nigerians and Africans face when travelling—visa restrictions, limited passport privileges, and the extra hurdles that come with being from the continent.
Her daring trip wasn’t just a personal milestone—it was a statement. A reminder that despite the obstacles, Nigerians are breaking barriers, one stamp at a time.
Now, who’s inspired to start checking off their travel bucket list?
