From comedy to theatre, song writing in the Yoruba film genre to becoming born again, embracing gospel music 100% and touching tons of lives through her powerful renditions, it’s been nearly five decades since the birth of one of Nigeria’s leading voices, one of her most successful gospel singers, Patricia Temitope Alabi simply known as Tope Alabi and we can’t help but applaud the inspiration.
Come October 27, Tope Alabi will be turning the big 50 and yes, it’s huge! In celebration, the gospel star has kicked off a ’50 – Day Golden Praise virtual celebration from 7th September through to October 26, 8pm daily Live from Facebook and Instagram.

The award winning gospel sensation who hails from Yewa, Imeko, in Ogun State was born in Lagos State on the 27th of October 1970.

Tope, a graduate of Mass Communication from the Polytechnic Ibadan
formerly started off as a member of the Jesters International comedy group between 1982 – 1984 where she began honing her skills, traveling and stage theater groups in both Ibadan and Lagos.
Alabi before fame worked as a correspondent at NTA, and upon graduation from the university worked at the NTA Channel 10. She later worked at Centerspread Advertising Limited.
Her passion called her back to the theatre world and many thanks to her experience in “Alade Aromire Theatre Group” in 1994, Tope Alabi established herself as a brilliant performer.
Alabi who had always dreamt of singing in the stadiums in front of a crowd, right from age of seven had began singing in the church choir.
After her foray in the theatre world, she gained prominence for her sound tracks in Yoruba movies before proceeding full time to gospel music. Today, Alabi is undoubtedly a pacesetter in the gospel music world.
Tope Alabi has been invited by various writers, producers and directors in the Yoruba movie industry to write and perform soundtracks for their various movies. The singer has about 350 soundtracks which she had composed for various Yoruba movies.
The gospel sensation has released multiple albums so far such as: Ore ti o Common, Iwe Eri, Agbara Re NI, Alagbara, Omo Jesu , Eruretoba (TY Bello) among others.
