Omowunmi Akingbohungbe has become one of the most inspiring figures in Nigeria’s nonprofit and leadership landscape. As the Executive Director of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), she carries the vision of empowering women to lead, innovate and create change across industries. Her name has become synonymous with empathy, excellence and social impact, values that continue to define her journey both in the corporate and development sectors.

Her rise to prominence is built on a strong educational and professional foundation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Olabisi Onabanjo University and a Master’s in Global Human Resource Management from the University of Liverpool. Determined to deepen her knowledge, she attended executive programs at Harvard Business School, Lagos Business School and the Global Banking Alliance for Women in the Netherlands. These experiences gave her the global perspective and strategic insight that now shape her approach to leadership and community development.

Omowunmi’s career began in the financial sector, where she worked with leading institutions such as Stanbic IBTC, First City Monument Bank, Skye Bank (now Polaris Bank) and the Tony Elumelu Foundation. Over the years, she gained expertise in customer experience, corporate social responsibility and sustainability reporting. Her professional path was not only about managing systems but also about building people, a quality that later became the hallmark of her leadership style.

Her passion for service led to the birth of the Call to Love Initiative (Call2Luv), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children from low-income families gain access to education and better opportunities. Through this initiative, over 2,000 students have been reached, more than 300 teachers trained and 22 low-cost schools supported to improve their teaching quality and management capacity. For Omowunmi, giving back is not a choice; it is a responsibility.

When she was appointed Executive Director of WIMBIZ in 2024, she brought with her years of experience, a heart for mentorship and a vision to expand the organization’s impact. Her leadership focuses on building stronger mentorship structures, promoting collaboration among women in business and public service and preparing the next generation of female leaders to thrive on global platforms. Her calm confidence and people-centered approach continue to inspire many within and beyond the WIMBIZ community.

Omowunmi’s contributions extend beyond WIMBIZ. She is a life member of the organization, a patron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (Lagos Chapter) and an author of the book Oops! The Client is Upset, a guide to managing difficult clients and building meaningful professional relationships. She also leads a personal development platform called Service Your Mind, where she helps individuals balance emotional well-being with professional excellence.

Recognition for her work has come from various quarters. She has been named among the Top 100 Women Creating a Better Africa by WeForGood International and honored as a Change Maker by the Lagos State Government. Yet, Omowunmi remains grounded in her mission to make lives better. Her journey is a testament to what happens when purpose meets preparation, a story of leadership that uplifts others and proves that true influence begins with compassion.
