Donyale Luna was the world's first black supermodel

Discovered at age 14 in Detroit, the American actress and model gained popularity in Western Europe during the late 1960s.

In 1966, the trailblazer made history by becoming the first black woman to appear on British Vogue.

Luna’s success in modeling at a time which favoured white models, paved way for diversity in the modeling world.

She is known to have been a covergirl 11 times between 1965 and 1975.

Sadly, #DonyaleLuna passed on early at the age of 33 in Rome on May 17, 1979.
